Trust as a key to modernization and developing sustainable local communities was outlined as the main focus of Fund FLAG's participation in the largest municipal event - the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities, organized by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB), which is held between the 23rd and 25th of October at the Albena Resort.
As a long-standing partner of NAMRB, Fund FLAG presented its activities as part of the plenary session "BULGARIAN MUNICIPALITIES - 15 years in the European Union", which was implemented with the financial support of the Fund. The Executive Director of Fund FLAG - Nadya Dankinova took part in the panel dedicated to "Outcomes and prospects of the European Union membership: local authority associations, metropolises, cities, small municipalities".
Nadya Dankinova expressed her gratitude for the trust, which has been the foundation for the successfully implemented projects and loyal partnerships that mark the Fund's 15-year history. Since its inception, Fund FLAG's mission has been to support Bulgarian municipalities and public entities in their efforts to modernize, expand municipal infrastructure, provide public services and develop sustainable local communities. The Fund continues to explore and provide solutions to improve local authorities' access to targeted financial resources by creating diverse and adequate financial instruments.
The Local Authorities Summit runs until the 25th of October. Yet to be held is the 2022 NAMRB Annual Awards ceremony as well as presenting the European Label for Local Innovation and Governance Excellence certificates. Fund FLAG is participating with its own booth at the Municipal EXPO, which is part of the forum.
This year's programme is focused on two important anniversaries for the Bulgarian municipalities - 140 years since the adoption of the first Law on Municipalities and Urban Governance and 15 years of Bulgaria's EU membership. This year is also special for the Fund FLAG, which is celebrating 15 years since its establishment. During a special event at the end of June 2022, the Fund's long-term, loyal and key partners were honoured.
